FAQs
Languages & Multicultural Ceremonies
Do you officiate weddings in languages other than English? Yes! Multilingual ceremonies are my specialty. I can officiate in English, Mandarin, French, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. Toronto is one of the most multicultural cities in the world, and I believe your ceremony should sound like you—in every language your love is lived in.
Do you officiate Mandarin wedding ceremonies in Toronto? Yes. As a native Mandarin speaker, I offer fully bilingual English–Mandarin ceremonies, including cultural elements delivered in both languages. This is one of the most requested—and most meaningful—parts of what I do.
Our two families speak different languages. Can you help? This is exactly the kind of wedding I love. I design the ceremony so that each family hears the most important moments in their own language. Additional languages beyond two are an extra fee. Please contact me for pricing details!
Can you include a Chinese tea ceremony? Yes. I can guide a tea ceremony as part of your wedding, conducted in both English and Mandarin so every guest understands the tradition and its meaning. Tea-ceremony attire, decorations, and a full tea set are available to borrow.
Booking & Logistics
What areas do you serve? I'm based in Toronto and serve the entire Greater Toronto Area. I'm also happy to travel beyond Toronto for weddings—a $0.80/km roundtrip travel fee applies for ceremonies outside the city (M postal code).
Are you a licensed wedding officiant? Yes. I'm a registered officiant through Humanist Canada and am authorized to legally solemnize marriages in Ontario. Your ceremony is both personal and fully legal.
How far in advance should we book? The earlier the better, especially for peak wedding season and popular dates. Once you're ready, your date is held with a signed agreement and deposit. If your date is coming up soon, reach out anyway—I'll always let you know if I'm available.
How does the process work after we book? After you book, and we'll have consultations to shape the ceremony together, and depending on the package you select, I'll send an intake questionnaire to learn your story. I draft the ceremony, we review and refine it, and I handle the legal components on the day. For packages that include a rehearsal, we'll run through everything in advance so the day feels seamless.
Do you MC or host the reception as well? Yes—beyond officiating, I also host receptions bilingually. If you'd like one warm, familiar voice to carry both your ceremony and your reception, ask me about combining the two.
The Ceremony
Can we personalize our ceremony and write our own vows? Yes. Every ceremony can be tailored to your story, and I welcome personalized vows and readings. My fully custom packages are written entirely around you—your history, your values, and the moments that matter most to your families.
What's the difference between your packages? My packages range from a standard ceremony to a fully custom, bilingual signature experience with cultural elements. The right fit depends on how personalized you'd like the ceremony and whether you'd like it in one language or two. Please contact me for pricing details.
Can you include cultural traditions? Yes. I love weaving in the traditions that matter to your families—a tea ceremony, a unity ritual, cultural readings, or other meaningful customs—so your heritage is part of the day, not an afterthought.
Do you offer a rehearsal? Yes. A rehearsal is available as an add-on. I recommend it for large weddings or more elaborate ceremonies with processionals, recessionals, and/or a large bridal party.
Legal & Marriage Licence
Do we need a marriage licence? Yes. In Ontario, you'll need to obtain a marriage licence before your wedding day—I don't issue the licence, but I'll guide you on how and when to get one, and I complete and submit the required documents on the day.
When will we receive our marriage certificate? After your wedding, I submit your completed licence to be registered. You can then order your official marriage certificate after 2-3 months, which then typically arrives several weeks later.
Can you just handle the legal/paperwork portion? Yes—I offer an elopement/legal-only option for couples who want the paperwork handled, whether you're marrying before a destination wedding or having a loved one lead the ceremony itself.
Pricing & Next Steps
How much does a wedding officiant cost? My packages start at $500 and are tailored to the level of personalization and the languages you'd like. Please contact me for pricing details, I'm always happy to talk through the right fit for your day.
How do we book you? Reach out through my contact form or email me at lucy@jasmineweddings.ca, and let me know your date, venue, and what you're imagining. I'll confirm availability and we'll go from there.
